Born and raised in Washington, DC, Eli learned his early skills under the masterful ears of Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios. He recorded many of DC's finest bands, including The Nation of Ulysses, Shudder to Think, and Jawbox. It was also there he met producer Ted Niceley (Fugazi, GVSB, Future Kings of Spain) and became his engineer. Eli and Ted travelled around the world making records and both ended up moving to New York; Eli to pursue a musical career with the bands Girls Against Boys and Ted to continue producing.
Girls Against Boys was active from 1991 to 2003, making six albums and travelling the world, headlining festivals and touring with such acts as Garbage, Rage Against the Machine, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. During the periods between tours and recording (not much time) Eli continued to record and mix bands, and discovered a love of DJing and remixing. He held a weekly party in SOHO in NYC for a year and a half, and remixed groups like Sneaker Pimps, Morcheeba, Thunderball and Garbage. The band went on permenant vacation in 2003 and Eli has turned is full attention to producing, while continuing to engineer and re/mix.
